Two cities-one near, one further away, are within easy reach of Agra.
NER P class 4-6-0 31606 stands at Mathura with #111 Passenger to Vrindavan in Novemer 1980. The second class fare was Rs.0.50. |
A NR WP on a passenger to Patna passes a shunting WG.
A WG shunts one of the huge rakes at Varanasi; the MG line is on the left.
Decorated NER YL 5010 accelerates No70 Express from Varanasi past a broad gauge train. Note that the YL is fitted with smoke deflectors from a YP or YG engine. This is probably the only YL on the IR with smoke deflectors.
It is just after dawn as a NER YP restarts the 18 bogies of No.71, the overnight Sonepur to Allahabad Fast Pass from Varanasi Cantt. The domes above the first bogie are part of the modern station building. |
Later in the morning, a NR WP accelerates a Passenger to Patna away from Varanasi. |
